Why It Matters: Burnout not only affects individual health but also hampers communication and engagement, leading to higher turnover rates and increased recruitment costs.
Organizations that fail to address burnout face substantial financial repercussions, including increased absenteeism, reduced productivity, and higher healthcare costs.
Why It Matters: Investing in burnout prevention programs can mitigate these costs, leading to a more resilient and efficient workforce.

Addiction to distraction is
eroding our capacity.
Melanie Sodka’s TEDx talk, titled “Burnout: How Addiction to Distraction is Eroding Our Capacity,” addresses the pervasive issue of distraction in modern society and its detrimental effects on our well-being. Profound and lasting impact
In October 2024, Melanie was our keynote speaker for our year end team event which included over 100 staff. Although the time we had with Melanie was short, the profound and lasting impact she had on us was immeasurable. Melanie navigated through complex themes with ease while paying appropriate attention to sensitive issues. Melanie was able to successfully master the paradoxical balance of opposing emotions that ranged from hilarious to compassionate, vulnerable to powerful, and anecdotal to factual!

Opened my eyes!
I enjoyed this Capacity Course so much as it opened my eyes to the conversations I needed to have with myself to become a better version of me. I learned my strengths and weaknesses don’t define me and where I need to create boundaries to ensure I am well.

Made beneficial changes
The Capacity Course provides attendees with essential tools to help anyone who is looking to improve the quality of their time and recalibrate their priorities. I was able to take stock of how I’ve spent my time, identify what boundaries I needed to establish & shift perspectives to make more beneficial changes.

Life changing
This course was a life changing eye opening class. It teaches me how to react to things in way I would never do and how to take a step back on my career and focus more on family and reducing burnout.
The best part was the grief session it taught me that it’s ok to grief and it’s ok to not do things the traditional way and for me to share that with a friend and be more open to understand that changes.

Insightful, inspiring, engaging,
wise and funny!Melanie gave the keynote speech at our Women’s Leadership Network event in November 2024. She is equal parts insightful, inspiring, engaging, wise, and funny. She gave our group great and usable advice on combating burnout and preserving ourselves. We laughed (and cried) and received so much positive feedback. We cannot say enough about how great Melanie was for our event. Thank you so much, Melanie!
